Studio H

I started this research based on a half page in the most recent Dwell magazine (July/August 2011 - pg. 30). Very inspirational indeed.

Less fortunate (poor) rural kids aren't dumb that's for certain (although some need additional guidance with grammar, diction and presentation).

"Studio H" is a high school level + summer work program (much like Samuel Mockbee's University level "Rural Studio") that is teaching all the skills we didn't get in school and giving them engaging reasons (and exercises) to pursue careers that matter to them and the community:

I think/hope that some of these kids will make it out of the rural ghetto, go to college and return home to teach and renew good and adventurous design — they just need unbelievingly great and committed teachers:
